The KH. Hasyim Asy’ari Indonesian Islamic Museum in Jombang is an example of a building that implicitly applies a contextual architectural approach, as seen in how its design elements respond to local culture and the surrounding environment. This study is important because the concept is not explicitly stated in official documentation, yet it can be identified through the building's form, materials, and architectural style, which combine traditional and modern elements. This research refers to the theory of contextual architecture by Brent C. Brolin in Architecture in Context and similar book and journals, which outlines indicators of contextual approaches and two main principles: harmony and contrast. The aim of this study is to identify the principles of contextual architecture in the KH. Hasyim Asy’ari Indonesian Islamic Museum in terms of form, scale, proportion, rhythm, color, materials, and style, and to determine whether its approach is harmonious or contrasting with its context. The method used is descriptive qualitative with a deductive approach, involving data collection and direct observation using relevant theories to analyze the characteristics and application of contextual architecture in the museum case study. The results show that the museum applies contextual architectural principles based on these indicators, with contrasting approaches.
