Abstract

The living environment significantly impacts students' well-being, social interactions, and academic performance. This article analyzes the advantages and challenges of flat-type apartments and student dormitories based on aspects of privacy, social interaction, cost, and academic impact. Using Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs and Social Ecology Theory, the analysis reveals that apartments offer greater privacy and flexibility but pose challenges such as high costs and limited social interaction. Conversely, dormitories promote social engagement and foster strong communities, yet they lack privacy and have potential conflicts. While no significant differences in academic performance were found, the living environment still influences students' learning experiences and well-being. Therefore, universities should provide flexible and inclusive accommodations that balance privacy needs and social interaction to support students' academic success and overall well-being.
