Abstract

Sustainable tourism requires the provision of tourist environments that are not only environmentally friendly but also thermally comfortable for visitors. The Biodiversity Park (Taman Keanekaragaman Hayati/Kehati) in Mesuji Regency is a potential ecotourism destination that experiences thermal comfort issues, particularly during the dry season. This study aims to analyze the thermal comfort level of the area based on air temperature, relative humidity, and wind speed parameters. The research employs a quantitative descriptive method using the Thermal Humidity Index (THI) approach and refers to the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) 03-6572-2001. Data were collected from 120 observation points using HTC-2 devices and a GM816 anemometer. The analysis results show that the entire area falls into the “uncomfortable” category, with THI values ranging from 29.95 to 33.79. Dominant influencing factors include high temperatures, low humidity, lack of shading vegetation, and a high percentage of hardscape surfaces. Design recommendations focus on increasing vegetation elements, providing shaded spaces, and reorganizing pathways and surfaces to improve the area’s thermal environmental quality.
