Abstract

Used cooking oil is one type of household waste that is increasing in volume every day due to the habit of repeatedly using cooking oil. Careless disposal of used cooking oil can cause environmental pollution, damage aquatic and soil ecosystems, and pose health risks due to the harmful compounds it contains. Therefore, innovations are needed that can reduce the negative impact of used cooking oil while providing added value. One solution offered is to process used cooking oil into aromatherapy candles. Aromatherapy candles are not only useful as a source of lighting, but also provide relaxation, reduce stress, and improve sleep quality through the use of natural essential oils. In this activity, the methods used include socialization about the dangers of used cooking oil waste, training in making aromatherapy candles with a mixture of stearic acid and essential oils, and product quality evaluation. The results of the activity show that the community is able to produce high-quality aromatherapy candles with varied scents and potential market appeal. This program not only supports environmentally friendly waste management but also opens up opportunities for creative SME-based businesses, thereby supporting the community's economy while promoting the creation of a sustainable circular economy.
