Abstract

Violence and sexual harassment against young children remain a common problem, often caused by their limited understanding of personal body boundaries. This community service activity aimed to provide body safety education through a gender communication approach for first and second-grade students at SD Negeri 28 Tanjung Raja, Desa Tanjung Harapan. The method applied was Participatory Action Research (PAR) consisting of three stages: planning, implementation, and evaluation. In the planning stage, the KKN students prepared educational materials using YouTube videos and interactive games. The implementation involved screening the educational video, conducting simple simulations, and engaging students in interactive games to enhance their understanding of body safety concepts. Evaluation was carried out using a simple questionnaire to measure students’ comprehension after the activity. The results indicated that students became more capable of identifying private body parts, understanding the importance of maintaining privacy, and confidently saying “no” to inappropriate behavior. Their enthusiasm in answering questions and participating in simulations also demonstrated the effectiveness of the participatory approach. Body safety education through gender communication proved effective in increasing early childhood awareness. However, sustainability of this program requires continuous support and guidance from teachers and parents so that the knowledge gained can be applied in daily life.
