Lahan hijau di Jawa Tengah mengalami perubahan yang signifikan, yaitu berkurangnya lahan hijau
secara bertahap di area perkotaan. Perubahan yang terjadi secara pesat ini berdampak signfikan pada
rumah retret yang dulunya terletak jauh dari perkotaan menjadi dekat dengan jalan raya dan
permukiman. Penelitian ini mempelajari lebih lanjut tentang eksistensi arsitektur restoratif di Rumah
Retret Girisonta, Jawa Tengah. Penelitian menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. dengan
observasi lapangan, dokumentasi, dan menyebar kuesioner pada para peserta retret dengan
pertanyaan berdasarkan teori Kaplan tentang lingkungan restoratif. Hasil penelitian ditemukan
bahwa Rumah Retret Girisonta masih mampu memberikan efek restoratif meskipun mengalami
dampak pada perkembangan perkotaan sehingga membuat rumah retret terletak dekat dengan jalan
raya dan permukiman. Penelitian ini berkontribusi pada diskusi tentang ‘restorative architecture’
dan menunjukkan pentingnya sebuah lingkungan dalam mempengaruhi psikologis manusia.
