Rapid growth of shopping malls in Palembang requires each mall to have a distinctive visual appeal and design concept to remain competitive in attracting visitors. Deconstructivist architecture, which emphasises fragmentation, disorder, and visual tension as an expressive design language, offers one approach to achieving such a distinctive image. This study aims to identify and evaluate the application of deconstructivist architectural principles in the conceptual design of Living World Mall Palembang. A descriptive qualitative method was employed, involving the determination of deconstruction criteria, analysis of form transformation, material, and building orientation, followed by matching the criteria with the design. Five criteria were applied: instability, disorder, disharmony, contrast, and conflict. The results show that all five principles are clearly identifiable in the building design, reflected in cantilevered masses, sloping planes, asymmetrical composition, varying mass orientation, material and scale contrast, and geometric collisions between elements. The application of deconstruction principles results in an unconventional and unique building form with the potential to serve as a visual attraction and a new landmark for the city of Palembang
