Artificial Intelligence Policy

'ASABIYAH: Jurnal Pengabdian Hukum recognizes the growing role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and AI-assisted technologies in research and writing. This policy outlines the acceptable boundaries, disclosure requirements, and ethical considerations for authors, editors, and reviewers regarding the use of generative AI tools.

1. Authorship Eligibility

Generative AI tools, Large Language Models (LLMs), or AI-assisted software—such as ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, or similar technologies—do not meet the criteria for authorship. Authorship carries legal, moral, and intellectual accountability for the published work. AI tools cannot grant consent, take legal responsibility for accuracy or integrity, manage conflicts of interest, or hold copyright. All listed authors must be human individuals who satisfy the journal's authorship criteria.

2. Authors' Responsibilities and Usage Disclosure

Authors are fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and scientific integrity of all content submitted to the journal, including any portion created or assisted by AI tools.

  • Permissible Use: AI tools may be used to assist with language editing, grammar improvement, readability enhancement, or generating ideas during initial research planning.

  • Mandatory Disclosure: If AI tools or AI-assisted technologies were used in any stage of manuscript preparation—including literature screening, data processing, code generation, drafting, or translation—authors must explicitly disclose their usage in the Methodology section or Acknowledgments of the manuscript.

  • Disclosure Details: The statement must specify the exact tool or model used (including software name and version number), the date of use, and a clear description of how the AI tool was applied.

  • Exceptions: Standard tools for grammar check, spelling verification, and reference formatting (e.g., Grammarly, Mendeley, Zotero) do not require formal disclosure unless they generate substantive text or analytical content.

3. Plagiarism and Data Fabrication

Content generated by AI technologies that replicates existing published work without proper attribution constitutes plagiarism. Furthermore, AI tools are known to produce inaccurate, incomplete, or fabricated references and data (hallucinations). Authors must independently verify and cross-check all citations, legal statutes, court decisions, and empirical data generated or suggested by AI systems prior to submission.

4. Policy for Peer Reviewers

Peer reviewers assigned to evaluate manuscripts for 'ASABIYAH: Jurnal Pengabdian Hukum are strictly prohibited from uploading submitted manuscripts or supplementary materials into generative AI tools or LLMs. Uploading unpublished manuscript files to public or commercial AI platforms violates double-blind confidentiality protocols, risks intellectual property infringement, and compromises data security. Reviewers must write their evaluation reports independently without relying on AI-generated review summaries.

5. Policy for Editors

Editors must maintain strict confidentiality regarding all submitted naskah and must not input submitted files or metadata into AI systems for summary, editing, or evaluation purposes. Editorial decisions must reflect the independent intellectual judgment of the Editorial Board and peer reviewers.
