Authorship Policy
1. Definition of Authorship
Asabiyah: Jurnal Pengabdian Hukum holds that authorship carries both academic credit and moral accountability for published work. In accordance with the principles set forth by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), an individual qualifies as an author only if they satisfy all four of the following criteria:
-
Substantial Contribution: Significant contributions to the conceptualization, design, field implementation, data collection, or legal analysis of the community service or outreach project (pengabdian kepada masyarakat).
-
Drafting and Revision: Active involvement in drafting the manuscript or revising it critically for important legal and intellectual content.
-
Final Approval: Approval of the final version of the manuscript to be published.
-
Accountability: Agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work, ensuring that questions related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the article are appropriately investigated and resolved.
Individuals who do not meet all four criteria must not be listed as authors.
2. Contributorship and Acknowledgments
Contributors who participated in the outreach program or writing process but do not fulfill all four authorship criteria (e.g., student field assistants, technical supporters, language editors, institutional providers, or administrative facilitators) should not be listed as co-authors. Instead, their contributions must be formally recognized in the Acknowledgments section at the end of the manuscript, clearly specifying the nature of their support.
3. Roles and Responsibilities of Authors
-
Corresponding Author: The corresponding author acts as the primary liaison between the editorial team and co-authors. They are responsible for ensuring that all co-authors review and approve the final manuscript, agree on the author order, and receive all official editorial correspondence.
-
Order of Authorship: The sequence of author names should reflect the relative intellectual contribution of each author to the project and writing. Any changes to the author order must be mutually agreed upon by all authors prior to submission.
-
Ghost, Gift, and Guest Authorship: Asabiyah strictly prohibits ghost authorship (omitting eligible contributors), gift/honorary authorship (including individuals who made no intellectual contribution), and guest authorship (adding senior figures solely to boost prestige).
4. Changes in Authorship
Any requested addition, deletion, or rearrangement of author names after submission—whether during the peer-review process or after acceptance—must be submitted to the Managing Editor in writing. The request must include:
-
A clear justification for the proposed change.
-
Written confirmation (via email or signed declaration) from all listed authors, including those being added, removed, or reordered, agreeing to the modification.
Changes to authorship will not be considered after an article has been officially published online.
5. Policy on Artificial Intelligence (AI) Tools
Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, Large Language Models (LLMs), or AI-assisted writing applications (such as ChatGPT, Claude, or Grammarly) do not qualify for authorship. AI tools cannot take legal or ethical responsibility for the accuracy, originality, or integrity of the manuscript.
If AI tools were utilized during data processing, literature retrieval, or drafting assistance, authors must transparently disclose their use in the Methodology or Acknowledgments section, detailing the specific tool used and the nature of its application.
6. Authorship Disputes and Misconduct
Asabiyah: Jurnal Pengabdian Hukum follows COPE flowcharts to address potential authorship disputes. If an authorship issue or allegation of unethical authorship practice is raised prior to or after publication, the Editor-in-Chief will initiate an internal inquiry. The journal reserves the right to suspend the review or publication process until the dispute is fully resolved by the authors or their home institutions. Unresolved disputes involving ethical misconduct may result in rejection or formal retraction of the published article.
