Authorship and Contributorship Policy
Didaktika Biologi: Jurnal Penelitian Pendidikan Biologi recognizes that authorship represents scholarly contributions, intellectual responsibility, and accountability for published research.
This policy aims to ensure transparency, fairness, and accountability in determining authorship and describing individual contributions to submitted manuscripts. The journal refers to internationally recognized publication ethics principles and the CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy).
01. Authorship Criteria
Authorship must be based on substantial intellectual and scholarly contributions to the research and manuscript. All individuals listed as authors must fulfill all of the following criteria:
- Make substantial contributions to the conception or design of the research, or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of research data.
- Participate in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content.
- Approve the final version of the manuscript before submission or publication.
- Agree to be accountable for all aspects of the work and to ensure that questions concerning its accuracy or integrity are appropriately addressed.
Individuals who do not fulfill all authorship criteria should not be listed as authors but may be acknowledged appropriately for their contributions.
02. Author Contributions and CRediT Taxonomy
Didaktika Biologi encourages authors to provide an Author Contributions Statement using the CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy) to describe individual contributions transparently.
The CRediT taxonomy includes the following contributor roles:
Authors should identify the roles that accurately reflect each individual's actual contribution. Not every author is required to perform every role, and multiple authors may share the same role.
03. Author Order and Corresponding Author
The order of authors must be determined collectively by all authors based on their respective scholarly contributions and agreements.
The corresponding author is responsible for:
- Managing communication between the authors and the editorial office.
- Ensuring that all authors approve the submitted manuscript and its final version.
- Providing accurate authorship and contribution information.
- Coordinating responses to editorial and reviewer comments.
- Ensuring that all required declarations and supporting documents are submitted.
- Communicating relevant editorial decisions and publication information to all co-authors.
The corresponding author is not necessarily the first author or the principal investigator. The designation must be agreed upon by all authors.
04. Non-Author Contributions and Acknowledgements
Individuals who contribute to the research but do not meet the authorship criteria should be acknowledged appropriately, with their permission.
Examples of non-author contributions include:
- Administrative or technical assistance.
- General supervision or institutional support without substantial intellectual contribution.
- Language editing and proofreading.
- Provision of facilities, equipment, or materials without substantial intellectual contribution.
- Other forms of assistance that do not fulfill the authorship criteria.
Acknowledgements must accurately describe the nature of the contribution and must not be used to conceal inappropriate authorship practices.
05. Prohibited Authorship Practices
Didaktika Biologi does not permit inappropriate authorship practices, including:
Gift or Honorary Authorship
Listing individuals as authors despite their failure to meet the established authorship criteria.
Ghost Authorship
Excluding individuals who have made substantial contributions to the research or manuscript from the authorship list without appropriate acknowledgment or justification.
Authorship Manipulation
Adding, removing, or changing authors or their order without proper justification and agreement from all authors involved.
Undisclosed Contributions
Failing to acknowledge significant contributions or misrepresenting the roles of individuals involved in the research.
06. Changes in Authorship
Any request to add, remove, or reorder authors after manuscript submission must be justified in writing and submitted to the editorial office.
All authors, including those being added or removed, must provide written agreement to the proposed change. The editorial team reserves the right to request additional explanations or documentation before approving the change.
Changes in authorship after publication will only be considered when supported by sufficient evidence and agreement from the individuals involved. Appropriate post-publication notices may be issued when necessary.
07. Authorship Disputes
Authorship disputes should initially be resolved among the individuals involved whenever possible.
If a dispute cannot be resolved, the authors may notify the editorial office with relevant explanations and supporting documentation. The journal may request clarification from the parties involved and, where necessary, refer the matter to their affiliated institutions for further investigation.
The journal will not independently determine the individual contributions of researchers when such matters require institutional investigation. Manuscript processing may be suspended while a significant authorship dispute remains unresolved.
08. Author Declaration and Accountability
By submitting a manuscript to Didaktika Biologi, authors confirm that:
- All listed authors meet the journal's authorship criteria.
- All authors have approved the submitted manuscript.
- The reported contributions accurately reflect the work performed.
- No inappropriate authorship practices have been used.
- All authors agree to take responsibility for the integrity of the research and publication.
The journal may request an authorship declaration or additional supporting documentation when necessary.
