Complaint and Appeals Policy

Didaktika Biologi: Jurnal Penelitian Pendidikan Biologi is committed to handling complaints and appeals fairly, transparently, and objectively. The journal provides a mechanism for authors, reviewers, and readers to raise concerns regarding editorial processes, publication decisions, or journal management.

1. Scope of Complaints

Complaints may relate to:

  • Delays or irregularities in the editorial and peer-review process.
  • Editorial decisions considered inconsistent with the journal's policies.
  • Unprofessional conduct by editors or reviewers.
  • Alleged violations of publication ethics.
  • Other concerns related to journal management and publication procedures.

2. Submission of Complaints

Complaints should be submitted in writing to the journal's editorial office through the official journal contact. The submission should include the complainant's identity, a clear description of the issue, and relevant supporting evidence, where available.

3. Handling of Complaints

The editorial team will review each complaint objectively and confidentially. When necessary, the Editor-in-Chief may consult relevant editors, reviewers, or the publisher to clarify the issue. Complaints involving the Editor-in-Chief will be referred to an appropriate independent party within the publisher's structure.

The journal will provide a response after reviewing the available information. Appropriate actions will be taken in accordance with the journal's policies and publication ethics principles.

4. Appeals Against Editorial Decisions

Authors may appeal an editorial decision if they believe that the decision involved a significant factual error, procedural irregularity, or misunderstanding of the manuscript's content.

Appeals must be submitted in writing with clear reasons and supporting explanations. An appeal will be reconsidered only when substantive grounds are provided. The journal may seek an independent assessment before making a final decision.

5. Principles of Handling

All complaints and appeals are handled according to the following principles:

  • Fairness: all parties are treated objectively and without discrimination.
  • Confidentiality: information is handled responsibly and shared only when necessary.
  • Transparency: the process and outcomes are communicated appropriately.
  • Independence: complaints are assessed impartially, particularly when conflicts of interest arise.
Important Note
Submitting a complaint or appeal does not automatically change an editorial decision. All cases will be assessed based on relevant evidence, journal policies, and publication ethics principles.
